Stock Quotes
Stock quotes are of fundamental importance to any investor because they provide stock price information for reference prior
to the purchase or sale of a given stock.
The Stockworm quotes page provides 15 minute delayed quotes for the Nasdaq market and 20 minute delayed quotes for other stock
exchanges. A sample quote is shown below along with an explanation of each data item:
- last trade - price at last trade.
- change - dollar (and percent) change that the last trade represents over the previous close.
- previous close - price at the close of the previous trading day.
- open - opening price on the current trading day.
- day's range - range of prices in the current day's trading
- bid - bid price(the highest price a buyer is willing to pay for a security).
- ask - ask price (the lowest price a seller is willing to accept for a security).
- volume - shares traded thus far in the trading day.
- 52 week range - low and high prices for the stock over the previous 52 weeks.
- earnings/share - the earnings per share from total operations (continuing plus discontinued operations) as taken from the 10-K, 10-Q, or
preliminary statements.
- p/e - price to earnings ratio (the price to earnings ratio is the latest closing price divided by the earnings per share based
on the trailing 4 quarters of earnings).
- average volume - average trading volume for the last 3 months.
