Raw financial numbers aren't good enough
Fundamental analysis is essential to determine the underlying financial health of a company. However, raw financial numbers
don't provide the perspective needed to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy stocks.
For example, let's say that a particular stock has a return on assets of 1%, a profit margin of 3%, a current ratio of 1%,
earnings growth of 5%, etc. Can we now say whether this is a good stock or not? The answer is 'no' - we need the context provided by a comparison of this stock to its industry and to the market as a whole.
Stockworm provides novel analysis and presentation of fundamental data
Stockworm provides the perspective needed by investors to truly understand financial analysis in the context of a given stock's
industry and of the market as a whole.
Every data item (P/E, stock value, market cap, etc.) within Stockworm is ranked two ways: once in comparison with the market
and again in comparison with the stock's industry. Data items which rank favorably (e.g. low P/E in comparison to market
and/or industry) are given a high ranking (graphically shown as a tall green bar). Data items which rank unfavorably are
given a low ranking (graphically shown as a low red bar).
The
result, as is shown in the 'thumbnail' report card images above, is
that healthy stocks show primarily green ranking bars and unhealthy
stocks show primarily red bars. This is an easy, intuitive way to
assess dozens of financials for a given stock at a glance!
Drill-down fundamental views provide the details
In addition to the report card view of fundamentals, Stockworm users can drill-down into the details of the fundamentals by
simply clicking on the colored thumbnail plot:
These drill down views are divided into six sections: profile, profitability, earnings, ratios, valuation, and sentiment. Within each drill down view, you can see the raw financial numbers, market and industry medians, and market and industry rankings (shown as colored ranking bars) for every data item.
