The Manager
John M. Siegel, Jr., Ph.D. is SCM’s Managing Member. John has always been curious about solutions to complex problems, and he typically uses computers as a tool for finding the answers.
Prior to Stockworm, John worked extensively on the application of computer technology to bioengineering. He has worked on the analysis of genetic sequences and on computer simulation of flow-related diseases in the human body including diseased heart valves, clogged arteries, and kidney dialysis.
John started Stockworm when he saw that the status quo for portfolio management was inadequate. Traditional portfolio managers often buy or sell based upon a ’gut feel’ for where stocks might move or, even worse, based upon a vested interest in the sales of stocks through commissions. John successfully designed a computerized portfolio management system which replaces emotional investing with scientific rigor. With the Stockworm system, strategies can be designed based upon individual client needs and tested using an extensive historical stock database to assure that the performance is in line with the design. Much of the Stockworm technology is based upon the same analysis techniques which are used in genetics and other scientific fields.
John has multiple academic publications and honors as well as four patents and patents pending. John obtained his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Georgia Tech in 1991 and 1994, respectively.
